Support Breast Cancer Awareness - Are You Doing Your Part?

Support breast cancer awareness. You never know when you or a loved one will be affected by this deadly disease.

Support breast cancer awareness and do your part. Odds are, you or someone you love will be affected by breast cancer at some point in their life. Instead of standing by on the sidelines, you can take part in raising breast cancer awareness and raise money for medical research by supporting breast cancer awareness.

How do you get involved? Through the following breast cancer awareness events and activities or by purchasing products through retailers who donate a portion of their profits to breast cancer research. Check out your options and do your part.

Breast Cancer Awareness Events & Activities

Race for the Cure - Donating more than $12 million per year, Race for the Cure is perhaps one of the biggest contributors to raising and supporting breast cancer awareness. With sponsors like Yoplait, American Airlines, Ask.com, Bank of America, Ford, New Balance, ZTA Fraternity, Quilted Northern bath tissue, and ReMax, this is one of the most recognized breast cancer awareness events and raises significant amounts of money to support breast cancer research.

Bowl for the Cure - Since 2000 and organized by the United States Bowling Congress, Bowl for the Cure has raised over $7 million for Komen for the Cure. This program runs from September through December each year. If you're a bowler and want to support breast cancer awareness, this is a great way to have fun and do good.

Don’t run or bowl? Don’t worry. Visit Komen.org and learn how you can raise awareness for breast cancer 365 days per year. Not only do they sponsor Race for the Cure, 3-Day for the Cure, and Marathon for the Cure, you can also help out with programs like Art for the Cure, AACr, and ASCO. Whether you golf, cook, drive, walk or run, you can do your part to raise money for breast cancer research.

Breast Cancer Awareness Merchandise & Products

You may not be a big-time sponsor, but don’t let that stop you from doing your best to support breast cancer awareness. Everything you do, from wearing breast cancer awareness ribbons to buying breast cancer awareness merchandise, helps raise awareness, which, in turn, raises money for research.

You can help raise money by supporting the sponsors listed above or one of the Komen "Provide Commerce" sponsors. Some of these are Pink Ribbon Collection, ProFlowers, Cherry Moon Farms, Red Envelope and Shari's Berries. These retailers donate 10% of the retail price from certain items they sell.

Breast Cancer Awareness Candles - Who doesn’t love candles? Treat yourself or give these great Chesapeake Bay Candle Company candles as gifts. Until December 31, 2011, Chesapeake Bay Candles will donate $1 each time you buy one of their designated candle sets to support breast cancer awareness.

Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelet - Pandora Jewelry, known for their beautiful charm bracelets, is now offering a pink ribbon charm. Pandora has partnered with Komen.org for the last six years and has donated over $450,000.

All of these sponsors and programs are great and you'll be doing your part to raise awareness when you shop with these retailers, but don’t forget ShopKomen.com. Here, you'll find breast cancer awareness pink ribbons, collectibles, the famous breast cancer awareness pink shirt, socks, hats, loungewear, outerwear, pictures, calendars, jewelry, and more.

The best part? For every item you buy at ShopKomen.com, 25% of the purchase goes to breast cancer research. Shopping and wearing these products is a guaranteed way to not only support breast cancer awareness, but to provide money for more extensive research.

Take Part and Support Breast Cancer Awareness

Your first step is to make a decision. Get active, improve your health, and participate in one of the breast cancer awareness activities. If you prefer a less active approach, support cancer research by purchasing and supporting one of the many Komen sponsors. Whatever you do, don’t stand by. Take action and support breast cancer awareness.
